Night-blooming cereus is popping tonight. It could have chosen a better angle!

Last year we just got one in August. Hopefully we get more than one this year. Last year's:

Don't think it's bloomed inside before; I've been too busy (lazy) to transition it this year. Room smells pretty awesome.
Never heard of it, but very cool flower.

For both Brugmansia and the night blooming Epiphyllum, it is a time honored tradition to throw a spontaneous evening garden party, just so your guests can enjoy the fragrances of your "one night beauties".

We'll have to do that once "all this" blows over.

Satsuki azalea belong to Steve C. at a impromptu Arbor Arts Social Distance outdoor Bonsai Sow and BYO Picnic.

Arbor Arts Collective Milwaukee chapter, is my 'Home" bonsai study group. I am nominally the head of the Illinois Chapter of the AAC, but I never get my act together to get the group together. I invited a dozen or so people to join 1,5 years ago, never got to the "official" meeting part. Sorce, you want to host a meeting? Maybe after a vaccine for COVID 19 is available.

The group was "pretty good" at keeping social distance. Masks on when we got close together, masks off for just sitting, working on trees and chatting.

Irene H. was our host, she has several acres in unincorporated Milwaukee county. She has a resident flock of chickens and one lone peacock. The peahens got eaten by the local coyotes a couple years ago. So the lone male hangs around and gets underfoot, terrorizes the dogs and picks fights with the rooster. I think I have twice as many photos of the birds as the trees. Oh well.

Strutting his stuff.

In another thread I'll post more of the trees, the Azalea was the only blooming bonsai there. So I put it here.

Just amazed at the tiny foliage...A novelty more or less. Dwarf Jasmine (Jasminum Parkeri) just a dainty little thing. 6" tall narrow cascade pot. Just allowing it to grow out will prune it back more to get back budding, and ramification. But...trying to just learn it.

Every year, the stargazer lilies bloom on exactly the fourth of july... this year they're a few days ahead
