I dont like when the bonsai or the scroll overlap each other.

Gotta agree with red, the scroll should be further to the right althought the height loks to be correct.

I assume they don't have control of the tatami? I don't like the fact that the mat seam runs right under the bonsai.

I don't mind the scroll that much - but I would probably move it right a little.

I would move the accent plant forward.

Due to having one of the finest display of Japanese ceramics from "THE" Japanese artist we lost 4 alchoves. We had to use four corners which did not offer the finest possible view as a Tokonoma. Next year we will have all the spots we need and can do a much better job.

This one is history and it is what it is.

A simple piece of masking tape might have made a difference here without damaging the wood.

Wow. I just really looked at the composition. Wow. Is the scroll a waterfall? If so, that's the image I am seeing, with the battered tree worn by the elements including the buffeting of the waterfall, and the accessory planting is thriving in the mist of the water.
