Just a thread to document the progress.

Not sure where I'll take it yet, but the one thing I am torn on is whether to remove that middle stump or carve it down somehow.

The stump is awkward, but would be a good carving project if forsythia wood is stable enough. How about a uro?

Agreed, and I've never carved anything before. Good practice at least, then I can always lop it off and maybe try a uro.

Just some updated photos. Let it run; cut some back; left some sacrificial stuff in the back to blend some areas of the base.

Still hoping for it to bud lower on the middle and left trunks.

Eventually I'll cut that nub down at an angle and try my hand at some carving...

Fall update. Cut the stump at a diagonal. Will try my hand at carving it into a uro at some point.

Still hoping for some lower branching on the center trunk.
