Last night our 36 degree with clouds took a bad turn. The clouds cleared off after midnight and when I woke up at 5:00 am it was 28 degrees. I had all my tropicals enclosed under my bench with a light on them, but all my junis. and my Catlin Elm forest and my Bald Cypress were left on the bench. Earlier that evening it had rained and the pots froze solid enough I could not get my finger into the mix. I have never had this happen before, what do you think my chances are of any of these surviving?
The Bald Cypress had went dormant as all it leaves had turned bronze, but had not fallen off. The Catlin Elm forest was getting some leaves turning yellow and I was letting it stay out to get the color and leaf drop. They all look unphased this evening but I knoiw the junis could be a month or two until I know if they are damaged. The Elms and the Cypress I guess I will have to wait until they come back in the spring,or don't. Oh yeah, my Crape Myrtle was out too as I was hoping it would go dormant then I would remove the root mass and repot it. The leaves on the Crepe Myrtle did shrivel up.
Have any of you had any experience like this or maybe some pointers.
