I got these Elms from @M. Frary in 2018 when I went to their show.

I decided today, since Frary's attention must go elsewhere, I will work these tree's this year for the well being of Mrs. Frary, in hopes that any "advancement" energy is gobbled up by these trees and not used to "advance" her ailment. Since anyone as genuine as M dot space Frary, deserves health, peace, and friggin coombaya's!😉

They were pretty tight in their colanders through to winter of 2018, but by spring they were bouncing around the colanders from neglect, they were pretty much without pot, just watering a mass of soil and roots.
Needless to say, they did poorly.

Then I repotted em last July.

They're starting to emerge slowly, pretty sure they know it ain't worth coming out fully yet, as we're still getting some cold nights.

They both grow quite different from the Siberian Elms here. I've only seen this difference in growth habits in my 2 different benjamin ficus. One grows one bud or branch, the other, this Michigan Siberian, grows 6-8 branches.

Makes it kinda hard to keep it tidy through neglect, so this has some branches need replacing.

Won't have any problem getting those branches that's for sure.

I reckon if I wanted to make a traditional broom, this is the variant of Siberian I'd want to try it with, more likely to bud around a chop ring.

But....these are too nice to restart em, the both have quite fantastic future paths.

Thanks for these Mike!

Thanks for Everything!
