I bought a Xmas Spruce.....Homey Depots!

They had Alberta labeled.
Blue Labeled....

And this labeled...

BHS Living Christmas..
No grow locale.

@wireme I was thinking/hoping it was Black Hills Spruce? And you may be familiar!

Oh.....I kind of MUST make it less tall....to hide it from the landlord below the parapet wall.

I'm thinking bends...
Or just tippin the pot sideways.

You know I got a winters itch....
So maybe give it Hell?

Then take it back to the depot in spring Eminem Voice...."gimme back my 15 dollars"!

Hey Sorce, I don't know, blacks hills spruce I have read is a variety of white spruce native to some hills in Dakota.

I have some white spruce, they have blunter needles than yours seems to have, maybe some white bands on the underside, I forget, would have to look them up. They sure back bud nicely, the white spruce. Either way, looks like a decent base there?

black hill's spruce is less "blue" than the regular white spruce. Yours looks like one. I had a BHS a while ago. Good enough guess would be my vote.

They are super cold tolerant. We've been so mild keeping it outside should be no problem. Put it outside now, in a few weeks it will be cold hardy.

Sorce, it appears that the needles are more pointed than a black hill spruce. Arguably a little longer too. I'm going to throw out a guess that it may be a Norway spruce. They are tough, hardy and a faster grower than the black hills species. Probably not as drought tolerant though. Good luck with it. Be interesting to see what you come up with for styling.

Doesn't look like a dwarf Alberta spruce despite the label, that's for sure :)

Care to take a stab at an ID?

So far I'm good with BHS!

I'd say them hills are black where it comes from. Is it still intact or did you slice and dice during the winter?

Thanks so much!

I chopped it, but the buds are swelling...
I took off a bit more foilage to "keep potential problems at bay", that's a Gary Wood thing I love and dubbed PPB.

It's gonna need to grow unchecked for sure now....I'll Probly update, I been meaning to.

Spruce all look similar to me, but hell, they're fun to play with and back bud well (in my experience). It looks similar to the many norway spruce saplings that have passed through my garden.

Well...
I gotta live by my code and not give a shit if this material lives or dies.

Boredom and rainy days.

I twisted most of the branches upside down.20160324_154714_HDR.jpg

I feel a little better, it coming out of winter....still shouldn't have cut off so much.20160324_154743_HDR.jpg

Except for the forced apex which needs a miracle....the structure for this is pretty usable so if it lives it might work out!
