Acer ginnala seeds harvested last fall. These sprouted about two weeks ago. I may go for a forest of clumps depending on growth habits. Plenty of seeds in the fridge. Probably start more in the spring. Don’t have much room under my lights

I start seeds that need 3 months stratification in January. That way, they come out of the refrigerator in May. Perfect for going directly outside.
I also did this this year.... with my Acers.

Not intentionally.. I just bought seeds for christmas.

🤣

I have a ton so I grabbed a bag of Amur and rubrum. Winter boredom. But it’s also a chance to see germination rates

Someone knocked these over yesterday when I was at work. Nobody fessed up. The seem okay
Split everyone up into separate rooms so they cannot collaborate to “get their stories straight”.
Identify, through preliminary interrogation both the most “dominant” and most “passive”... convince the most passive one that the dominant one gave ‘em up.. you’ll get your story.

🤦🏽‍♂️🤣

Pretty sure it was the cat messing with my stuff. She bit the head off one and pulled out two of the four in the other pot. Just over a week later, it’s sprouting more buds. 👍🏻

They are hardening off a bit, since I started them inside. So I won’t touch them for a while.I also put some seeds from the same batch in my yard. Excited to see what pops . I have two 4-5 year old Amur in pots and they are have new buds growing!

Here's what I have. The remainder of my seeds rotted. Not a fan of keeping seeds in bags anymore. I have more seed from the same source and I just threw them around outside. I may just use cuttings or layers to fill in the forest. The 3 in the pond basket grew the best. They are about a foot tall. The only thing I did was pot up the seedlings in slightly larger pots. No wire or trimming. In the spring I will be placing them all together in a forest situation and prune.

@sorce seen you use some screens to let roots run. I am shooting for some sloping action, Duluth has tons of hills .

I only trimmed a couple dead twigs. Just gonna pinch certain areas in the spring, let them thicken a bit
