Hi to all!
I recently bought a Mallsai from Costco. Please don’t judge. I used to have a few bonsai including a FT. I remember it was fickle. This plant was brought home, very dry. I watered it daily and put it outside on my covered patio. I saw a web on it and thought I would spray the whole plant with a mix of dish soap and water. Probably too heavy on the mixture. It has now dropped almost all its leaves. There are black spots on most leaves, more on the bottom than the top, but I can’t find any bug or pests of any kind. I have read many posts but still can’t figure out what is wrong with my tree from what I’ve read I’m in south Florida, zone 11. I put Zone 10 in my profile. Gotta change that. Is it mold? Fungus? Pests? Anyway I know you’re all tired of amateurs posting up problems with cheap mallsai problems, but any help would be greatly appreciated!
Dean

Wondering if mallsai soil stayed too wet from watering every day? Any drainage holes on the mallsai pot?

Leave no Mallsai behind! Not pests, probably. That's what F-Tea leaves look like when they drop, and they drop leaves like mad when their conditions change. What is underneath the greenish moss stuff on the surface of the pot? Keep watering it, get it some sun.

There’s a single one inch drainage hole. It didn’t feel wet as I watered it.

I agree they hate climate change. I bought one last year and I already killed it through winter. I repotted in APL mix and it took off..had flowers, new leaves. Then stored inside grow tent for winter but had to slightly reduce humidity and light requirements for some other things and it just didn't make it. So lesson learned Finicky Fukien. I think they like alot of light, high humidity and temps 50-75 deg. That was my experience anyway.

Haha!
Thanks for your acceptance!
I just narrowed down my address to Zone 10b, but at times it feels like zone 12 if there is such a thing!

It barely felt damp, so I watered it again. I have it out in full sun now. So any ideas on the black spotting on the bottom of the leaves?
