Hi!

I've just gotten into bonsai, and I have been trying to figure out how best to take care of the two trees I bought. One of them is a fukien tea, and the other is a ficus of some sort. I'm thinking it's a ginseng ficus, but I'm not completely sure.

Now, I live in the western part of Norway, so I will be keeping these trees indoors. They will be sitting in a windowsill, or near a windowsill facing westwards.

Both these trees seem to have similar-ish requirements for water, ie soil should be neither wet nor too dry, and watering should only be done when the soil has dried up a bit. From what I gathered the fukien tea is a fair bit more fussy of a tree. Is that correct?

Now, what I am wondering is: Do you see any potential at all in these two trees? What would YOU do to them immediately?

Both of these trees came with soil that appears to be regular plant soil. From what I've understood, everyone that grows bonsai seem to use special bonsai soil that is fairly coarse. Is this something I need to do right away, if at all? Both of the trees have green moss in the top layer of soil, and I figure I would like to keep that.

I apologize for a lengthy post with perhaps too many questions, but I'm fairly excited about this whole business!

Included are two (poor quality) pictures of the trees in question. I may take some better ones tomorrow, from more angles!

Thank you for reading!

Edit:

Forgot one last thing:

In this part of the country, the weather is often overcast (it rains quite a lot, too..) and the summertime temperatures are usually around ~62 to 77 degrees fahrenheit (17-25 celsius). What should I do with the trees at wintertime? The temperature in the room they are currently in is generally around 68, usually hotter at summer, usually not a lot cooler in winter. Oh, and does it matter if they sit next to a semi-open window from time to time? Haha, I feel like I worry too much.
