Started this over a 1.5 years ago and removed a bit of the upper soil 5 months ago.

Will transplant when it’s time and will take a better pic in a few days.

The rock I collected some years ago which I used for this example might be a little small for this planting even though 2/3 of it is still beneath the soil level. I may brush a bit more of the soil this fall.
I should have taken a before picture as I really can’t remember exactly what the rock looks like. Story of my life. If it’s not directly in front of me, I can’t see the tree through the forest.

The leaves look a little chlorotic, I wonder if the soil fertility and pH are ok?

It’s been growing very well, no insect or disease. If it’s in too much sun here in SOCAL it gets burned. I’ll transplant into a better soil mixture and start to fert this spring. Any Fert recommendations? Liquid fish, M-Grow, redbull?

Sorry but I can’t help you there, my fertilizer experience is limited to commercial horticulture products.
