i would just keep it alive for at least one more year. get over the hurdle of water, food and light and you will have a much better tree this time next year. The bigger the tree gets and the more you look at it, the better chance you will end up with a design you will like. Read as much about the type of plants you are growing as possible. Try to determine when to repot, how often to fertilize, when to trim and when to chop. Study up a bit on soils (in relation to your watering habits!) so you are ready the next time you need to repot (should be in a couple of years). Learn about fertilizers and how the N-P-K impact "shoots, roots and fruits" respectively. The timing on when to push each letter (or number) will be an important piece of info in the future. So darn much to learn it is crazy. I am just a couple of months ahead of you . As I started reading I was less gung-ho about just chopping and styling. The more info I get, the less I feel like I am prepared to do anything yet. Hopefully that changes soon. Again, I would start by reading as much as you can about the species of trees you are growing. Use the search function and read a bit. That reading will generate a couple of holes in your information. Then is a good time to post a new thread looking for clarity about specific things. I think it looks like the nice beginning of a bonsai. Unfortunately, bonsai take a long time to develop. Fortunately, we have this web site and other sources of info to help us bide the time. Good luck! Hope to see more about your tree in the future.
