I believe this came from Giordano’s. Nice nursery and helpful guys, but this tree was a mess. Hey, wasn’t meant for bonsai - it was intended for landscaping.

Ahh ok. Yours looks similar to a shishi I saw at Hicks. I feel your pain though. I got a 5gal shishi that was potted in heavy clay. It took all day to free the roots. One thing I noticed is after potting it in loose soil, within 2-3 weeks the roots filled the pot. Its like the tree was ecstatic that it was in a much better mix
