Ginseng ficus tube chop

Yet another Home Depot grab.
Little ginseng ficus in 6” pot.
Going to see if I can cut almost all of the tubes off and make a big cutting out of the top. Made the horizontal cut.soaked it in a rooting hormone slurry then potted it up in a coir/pumice mix.we will see.

I’m going to keep it in the greenhouse. It’s usually around 85-90% humidity in there. Hopefully that does the trick.

Carol, did you remove top foliage when you made the chop?
I’m wondering if all the foliage will die off from the lack of roots, or if the foliage is better left on, to generate food for root production?

I trimmed it back some but didn't cut it all off.

Rootstock is looking like sweet potatoes.
Top seems to be ok for now.

Coming along.
I put some wire on a couple months ago.
Today I gave it a light trim, and mossed it up with some left over roof moss.Hopefully, I can get the right branch/trunk fattened up, and get a nice transition.
