Hi all, this is my first post. Looking forward to learning and sharing my experiences with you.

I bought this ginseng bonsai from Ikea 3 years ago.
I'm a total beginner, and I'm wondering if you could help me define the next steps considering the state of the tree.
Does it need repotting or should I just prune it?
Thanks!

Next steps depend what you want to achieve and you haven't given any clues there.

Pruning is good for ficus bonsai. Without pruning shoots just keep getting longer and longer. Cut back shorter than you want the tree because new growth always grows longer again. Bonsai is a continual process of cutting shorter and growing longer.
At some stage you'll need to repot but fortunately ficus can grow in almost any soil and don't really care if they don't get repotted for years. Personally I don't think the pot does the tree any favours looks wise but then it is a ginseng fat root ficus so probably doesn't matter too much. Looks is entirely up to the owner.
As you have kept it alive for 3 years we can assume you have mastered watering the tree in this pot in the place you keep it so continue with watering as you have been.
Leaves look healthy so we can assume it has enough nutrients but ficus really love fertilizer. Just need to be careful with fert unless fresh water runs through the soil regularly to clean out leftover nutrients.

For the love of everything holy, let's not allow "bonsai" "bonzo" to infiltrate Croatia when it's Bonsai are being defined as some of the world's best.

Welcome to Crazy!

Damn Swedes.

This is the plant equivalent to having brought home an Ikea table and never building it, instead, just eating off the box played on the floor for 3 years.
