Grafting of hornbeams?

I have several Korean hornbeams that need branches where none now exist. I've seen grafting mentioned in the odd post but there is not much discussion about it. Can one thread graft hornbeam? Or is another technique better.

Thread grafting can work, technique is same as for maples and elms.

Approach grafts tend to leave scars.

Single point veneer grafts can also work.

T cut bud grafts work well too. I've seen it done on carpinus caroliniana. Winter or late August are good times for grafting.
