Grafting Satsuki onto Rhododendron

Does anybody have any experience or insight into grafting Satsuki Azalea onto domestic wild rhododendron? These rhododendron have very large trunks - much larger than I could get
on a Satsuki in 10 or so years. I've posted my question on IBC and the yahoo azalea group site without result.

This is a in my own opinion the best method for azaleas.

Whatever choice you make for your graft direction ensure where you plan
on leaving it for 1 year plus without any disturbance best in a greenhouse.
