Picked up this green cloud Texas sage on sale. I was originally looking at the larger bush versions, but saw there were a few of these smaller ones that looked pretty nice and already tree-like

At least I’ll have ONE piece that looks like a small tree

These get really nice purple flowers a few times during spring and summer

There’s also a second trunk I didn’t notice at first. Not sure if I want to keep it, or cut it out later

I will follow your tree progression as I have tried two that did not make it. I may have pruned them too much.

I have a different variety in our front yard that was run over by a cement truck when pulling in to pour concrete for our back patio. It lost a few limbs but otherwise bounced back
