Ive found a green atlas cedar with a nice trunk, good branching, they arch nicely on this variety,my problem is itsgrafted to deador(nice graft)in a large container, and i cant tell how far down in the dirt the nebari lies,if the roots are not the best can i do a partial g round layer to improve the roots? I know how hard other ced ars can be,but is deaodor a bit easier?

is deaodor a bit easier?
so to recap

Deodar understock
Atlas top
no apparent graft union...yea
top looks good

Id say you were lucky on all the above. this tree is notorious for lousy nebari but the great short needles and light colored new growth makes up for it,

I'd go with what you have, the numerous times Ive tried layering these guys, all have ended is less than glorious roots.

good growing,
