I have uses the "GS-2", the smaller grain size about 1/4" Last summer used in many collected trees and it is great if Ya can't get the real deal.

Agreed. Also very light, so reduces the weight in those big pots.

I found some of the GS-2 on Amazon, and probably because it's so light, shipping to Canada was very cheap. I've only been using it for about a year as part of a mix, and so far so good.

You can get glowstone for free in the nether, you only need to make an portal with obsidian and light it.
