Well here is an update. The trees seem to be doing alright with the transplant. I decided to chop one down all the way, hopefully this is the right decision. Question now is should I let everything grow out, or rub off whichever new growth that I don’t want?

Let it recover. Free grow sun and water. Cutting back once lignified or in autumn depending on how vigorous the growth is
