So I took a whole bunch of cuttings from a clients Hawthorne in the spring. All but one have died. The remaining one’s leaf remains green but there’s no root development. Is there any chance this was a success?
Despite a number of tries I have not been able to root hawthorn cuttings. I've also seen other threads saying they do not strike.
New shoots are often the result of using stored energy in the cutting. Sometimes I have had cuttings survive for many months but without roots death is inevitable.
That said, wherever there are signs of life there's hope so keep looking after your cutting and let us know if you become one of the first to strike these.
