Winter is coming on and I would like to get some solid advice for heat matts and thermostats. I tried them last year and did ok with Vivosun matts and thermostats, but just ok at best. The most trouble was with the thermostats. If I tried to use their double plug-in stats (where you can plug in two matts into one thermostat) there was always a problem keeping both matts at the same temp or even close. The directions on the thermostats are at best horrible and calling them is almost suicidal! If it takes one thermostat per matt to be successful, that is fine too. Sound advice concerning the best matts and thermostats would be appreciated. I don't want to fight this all winter again. Thanks for help.

PS: I use matts in my 3' X 12' cold frame set at 34 degrees F to protect fall collected trees and other trees that can't stand a hard freeze on the roots. I bed the pot in bark with heat matt underneath. It works well but definitely a dance in the spring

This is what I use with heat mats, seems to work pretty well.
