Hello all, I'm new to the forums and pretty new to bonsai. My partner and I live in a south facing condo in Denver with a small balcony.
I have a small schefflera that I've had for a little over a year and a half now. Last May I moved it from its original pot to a tray resting over a rock. At that time I did a partial defoliation. I just uncovered the roots and reassessed, repositioning some and removing some cordage and moss that I had used to ease the transition. I also nearly fully defoliated the plant since it is looking quite health.
It and our orchids are currently enjoying the comforts of some grow-lights, a humidifier and the Scheff is sitting on a humidity tray of its own.
My partner has a golden gate ficus that he got at a bonsai fair this past summer. It spent most of the summer on the balcony, but is now inside for the winter.
I'm trying some starts with the major trimmings I made from the scheff and a couple of small trimmings I made from the ficus (it had one limb getting a little long and disrupting the foliage shape)
Anyway, that's my story. I've been enjoying reading threads and getting a lot of food for thought here.
