hello from los angeles, ca. wow you guys have some great plants! I have a couple that I'm working on. from left to right: pink japanese wisteria, tama no hada satsuki, cuttings from my grandmas front yard, and a nana juniper. Does anyone know what kind of juniper it is? I took some closer up photos of it

Welcome Aboard Bonsai Nut!

Looks like you‘ve already gotten started in the right direction, with multiple species and propagating too.

Well done! Looking forward to seeing how you progress.

cheers

Working on a nana juniper and 4 JBP seedlings growing right now. Tried to germinate dawn redwood twice this season with no luck. Will try again next spring. Really want a dawn redwood
I'm also working on a nana juniper, letting my wisteria grow, same for my satsuki azalea. I made cuttings off of my grandma's juniper hoping it'll take. Redwood sounds nice! I doubt I can do that

Howdy from LA
But it’s only for another week and then I’m back to FL.
Can you suggest any good nurseries/ places to look around the Santa Monica side of town?
The weather here is great. I was camping in Death Valley a couple of days ago, 106 at 9 pm and a chilly 93 in the morning.
brutal even for a Florida guy.

hmmm I haven't gone to a nursery for a while, but near Santa Monica.. you can check out yamaguchi nursery and hashimoto nursery. Both are a block apart on sawtelle blvd. There's also Marina Garden Center, but I'm not sure if they have good material for bonsai. places to go will be to visit the Manhattan Beach area. There's also the Santa Monica pier and 3rd street.

Thanks!
My daughter just moved here,
She did last year, but we just drove back to bring her stuff and her car to her apartment.
maybe I’ll set her up with some pre bonsai before I go. The climate here seems perfect. A souvenir or two to take home might not be a bad idea either.

that sounds like a good idea! if you do go to sawtelle, there's some nice food and dessert spots as well

Actually just got back from a walk up there. I bought a small Vietnamese pot from Yamaguchi.
they have some beautiful trees there. Some private trees they are caring for. The staff is very nice and helpful too. Definitely worth another walk.
