I have this different looking JM. Can anyone help me id it, let me know about it and is it worth keeping?

It may look different to you but there are literally thousands of named varieties of JM now so it is easy to tell you what it is not but far harder to tell you what it is.
If it is not grafted it could well be a seedling in which case it is a brand new, unnamed variety.
if it does not come named then it is just Japanese maple.
