Thanks for any help.

This plant was collected in the Fountain CO. area. It is potted in the surrounding soil it was growing in. I have asked several of the locals what it is, but nobody knows. Once I get a positive ID I will be able to take care of it, better. No root or limb cutting have been done. The first few days the leaves were drooping but now after 2 weeks the leaves have lifted and I'm seeing new growth.

Again thanks for any help with the identification.

If I saw that growing on the side of a trail, I would assume at first glance it was poison oak.

Odd pinnate compound leaves - three leaflets - lobed leaves.

However though it looks quite similar, something about it doesn't make me feel like it's a 100% match. Poison oak is an imitator that takes on many different leaf shapes depending on the plants it is growing among, so the leaf shape can be quite different from location to location.

Can you take a couple more photos of a close-up of the leaves? The ones above are out of focus. Is there anything that looks like fruit or berries or flowers? It might be a lemonberry sumac...

I am almost 99.9% sure it isn't poison oak, I'm very familiar with poison oak :)

I'm out in the field right now so I'm using my cell phone, I do apologize for the quality of the picture.

It is skunkbush, a.k.a fragrant sumac, Rhus aromatica or possibly Rhus trilobata. These two are hard to tell apart and some taxonomists say they are the same species.

Thanks everybody for the help. From what I have read they are a fairly hardy plant.
