It was given to me by someone who thinks it's some sort of apple tree. It's growing well, the buds opened quite early, late April, but did not produce any flowers.

Thanks for your help.

Anyone has a good resource on how to distinguish apple/crabapple cultivars based on the leaves?

There are so many, literally thousands, maybe more than 10,000 cultivars when you include both apple and crab apple cultivars. I sincerely doubt that such a guide exists, and even if you had such a guide, at best you would narrow down the possibilities to several dozen.

You can say with certainty, that it is Malus, that's about it. Care is the same for all Malus
