Help identifying a tree I was given

Hi I was recently given a tree as a gift. I don't know what species it is and the person who gave it to me doesn't know. I want to make sure to take care of it but I know nothing about bonsai and from what I have read care does depend a little bit on the species. I'm in south Texas. Also since I am completely in the dark about these things would any one recommend web resources to help me pick it up quick. I'm kind of interested in starting this as a hobby. Thanks

Looks like a juniper. Needs to go outdoors. You can protect it on a shade porch, but its a lot tougher than you think it is.

Yeah our juniper were buried in Snow for last two days and they never did and never will care. Only thing we ever see a need to do with them is give the base of the plant air by trimming off undergrowth. Once established and growing happy they can take a brutal amount of bending, shaping and such.
