Hello all! I'm new to this forum and this is my first post... I believe I'm posting in the correct spot and I apologize in advance if I'm not. So my girlfriend collected this seedling from St. Simoms Island, GA. She is calling it a live oak tree and that it was found underneath what she believed was a live oak tree. She said they had the same leaves. Can y'all help me identify this? Just curious. Thanks in advance!

It is hard to tell, but my bet would be
Prunus laurcerasus
The Laurel leaf Cherry, or Cherry Laurel. It is a wide spread invasive species from Europe. Seedlings grow well in dry heavy shade. It can make a passable bonsai. When it is old enough to flower that will confirm the ID.

It is similar to yaupon Holly in appearance. Yaupon has insignificant flowers.

Check out Wikipedia pages on both species.

I just looked up the cherry laurel... you're right they do look very similar. Thanks so much for input guys.

And thanks for the welcome! I've spent many of hours reading posts on this site in the last several months. I never put a single thought into bonsais until I drove by Bonsai by Dori in Cottondale, Fl on the way home from the beach last year... and now I have 16 bonsai/ pre bonsai trees lol.
