Hello all. I found several of these trees here locally in SC and don't know exactly what they are. Several have interesting movement near the base and could be collected if they were a desirable species. I have attached a few photos. The leaves look almost like a hickory, but I can't be certain as they are dried up and brown. The tree has held on to about 10% of its dried up, brown, foliage.
One interesting attribute of this tree is the small nubs that are formed all along all branches and most of the trunk. The whole tree, aside from the lowest couple of feet, have them throughout. Also, only one of about 10 or so near my office showed the reddish branch tips.
Thanks in advance!
