it keeps making little branches on the lower part of the trunk prolifically should I just let these grow or what the more I remove it seems like the more come on it!!! LOL

Depends on what your plan is for the tree. Lower branches are great for thickening the trunk.
Show us the tree and let us know what your plan is. What style are you aiming for? What size do you want the tree?
 
I know it does not have that thick of a trunk yet but maybe with some guidance I can make it into a great bonsai. It almost looks like it is weeping but I it is a punica granatum 'sarasa shibari'
 
Definitely keep the lower branches, I’d leave the height too. Let it grow as much as you can (depending on how much space you have), then chop it just above your favorite lower branch.
Step 1: grow it.
Step 3: clip it.
