Leave it alone for now. Let it have a couple months of recovery. Do not defoliant!!
UPDATE!!! New growth has exploded, my next question would be now, at this time should I trim back new growth? Or should I defoliate and re pot

Can I trim back the new growth? The only reason for repot is soil is very hard and I can see roots on the edges of the pot

Its too early for a repot. Wait until July 4th to do that. Just leave it alone until then, let it regain its strength.
