To bypass this shrinkage problem

20 to 30 % super plastic earthenware clay [ not bentonite ]
60 to 70 % fine fired or non porous particles
10 to 20 % clear glaze 06

you can add 10 % grog

Body when moistened should be able to coil at 1/4 inch around
a finger without cracking.

Not for storage.

Dries well, it is used for coil building on a banding wheel or
slab building.

Bentonite handles free alkalis poorly.

Matures to vitreous around 08 small cone. Accepts glaze very
well.
There is a massive deposit of this clay on the south side of the
island.

Idea was born out of Egyptian Paste.
Have Fun.

My sister is a Fashion Designer, and enjoys hand building.
Used the above recipe.
Look closely for her decoration.

After spending a lot of time trying to repair a small crash on the rim, and not having much luck, it got the hammer. I will be more careful with green-ware and not waste time trying repairs again on an almost dry pot. Thanks for help. Peter

Yes! Does water mean u recycled it? Clay is way to cheap to do that in my book, plus that clay had an attitude that I don't want to deal with again!

If I make a pot that I can't live with I throw it in a deep pit in my yard. Some day archeologists will have to figure it out.

It is way too easy not too IMO.....

That particular Clay's energy won't come back to me though.

This is fun to think about.
