Collected this at my Father In Laws property in Amador County, Ca (gold country). It looks kind of like an azalea to me, but the leaves are more serrated and pointed. Thoughts?

Looks like something in berberis family. Maybe a variety of the wintergreen barberry.

I don’t believe that’s an azaea. Looks like it has horizontal lenticels if that helps any.

It looks very, very similar to my pyracantha, except I don’t see thorns on yours. Pyracantha have red or orange berries in the winter. Did this one?

This specific tree has never fruited as far as I know. And at first I thought maybe a firethorn, but the leaves feel thinner and less “waxy”. Also the pointed tips and red outline threw me off. Thanks for the help guys.
