Hemlock for my birthday

Went out with my boyfriend after a great birthday breakfast to pick up a few perennials, and the nursery had some COLLECTED hemlocks and contorta pines. I kept eyeing this hemlock, thinking it was pretty sweet and he bought it for me! What an great present!

The base of the larger trunk has more subtle movement that shows in the pics. And I’ve got some nice tight branches to work with I feel a literati in my future.

Cool. Not sure I’ve ever seen collected specimens at a nursery.

I live in the PNW and a couple of nurseries around here have collected natives. Not many but a few. Always a crap shoot.

Nice tree. Might also look cool if you changed the planting angle to make it a slanting semi-cascade.
