Some pre spring updates…was worried I had killed the cascading branches but think I shocked them with too much wiring. Some buds starting to form so at least I know branches are alive… I think I will let it grow and leave it alone as much as possible this year to regain some strength then shape and family next year…

I think @Leo in N E Illinois gave you some good advice about developing the ’tail’ of your cascade,

Respective of your ’just let it grow’ plan this year, I’d add this to your thoughts… work on doing some more preliminary and secondary styling on the top hamper of your tree this year…. Also consider keeping the top in check a bit too so energy diverted to the tail. It will reap your benefits in the up coming years.

Cheers

Coming along fairly nicely but lost the longest cascading branch. Building shape of crown, adding cascading branches…

Trying to work on the crown and merge it with the cascading branches, looking awkwardly “separate”. Still putting on good new growth and seems happy in this pot for this year.

Got restless in the winter and did some crown pruning and wired down a branch that may or may not be part of final. Planning to repot at the end of winter, start to get the final shape and go with it!
