hey everyone,

im new to bonsai and ive been floating around this forum for alittle while now. i just picked up this logwood (Haematoxylon campechianum) and im looking for some advice on the direction i should take or what i could do. im new so feel free to dummy talk me i wont get butt hurt...

It all depends on what you want to do with this......what do you see in this tree? How big is the base? Looks like a nice tree.
 
well i was thinking informal upright. the tree itself is very oddly shaped almost like an oval all the way up but at the very base its about 3 inches. but im new an im really open to any seasoned suggestions tips or pointers...
 
As far as I know Logwood isn't seen as bonsai in CA very much, so getting local advice (which is usually best) might be hard. Usually the logwood that I've seen online tend to look like a chunky telephone pole... very straight trunk, so your nebari (the base of the tree) caught my eye. Since I've never worked on this species I won't try to offer advice except to say that I would try to take advantage of the nice flaring of the trunk at the base.
