Here in 7B, I would keep the Chinese Elm outdoors all year long. It is definitely POSSIBLE to grow trees indoors, but as a hobbyist that may prove cost prohibitive. Assuming one even has the requisite knowledge to get this done, every aspect of the tree's existence would have to be micro managed far more than a regular bonsai. Each of temperature, humidity, CO2, air flow etc would have to be closely controlled. Short of a commercial enterprise, this game is just not worth the candle.
