Well I was given the marble slab with the rocks already on it. The same friend gave me tons of these lil hinokis and since his health is failing i wanted him to make the island with me. So this is what we came up with. Tell me what yall think.

I'll just make the stone arrangement around each island more irregular. Place some stones horizontal and arrange some so they jut out from the island . Then you can also let some of the trees on both islands point more towards each other. I suspect that you used the stones to contain the soil but you should use muck for that and let the stones tell their own story. Sorry, just read the stones were already there

Sorry, just read the stones were already there. Well, then I'll try and pry it loose somehow and rearrange it or augment it with some more stones of similar shape and color.

buffrider, I give you big kudos for involving your ailing friend...
for that I think reguardless of whether it is good or not, or what others think, it should not matter. Keep it the way it is as a project you both worked on... cheerish it for that aspect alone.
The next planting you do, I'll give advice.

Yea the stones are glued on there so no moving any of them. Now i posted this just to get what yall think of it and show it off. Theres no way im going to change the way it is cause it has sentimental meaning to me this way and especially even more if anything were to happen to my friend. So its staying as is. Now i might design the trees a lil different as they grow.

I wouldn't change a thing. In future years, this will probably have more sentimental value to you than any other bonsai. Thanks for sharing it.
