Hello! I am farely new to bonsai. I have a number of trees I have made, all from nursery stock. All of them seem to be doing great besides a Hinoki Cypress I have. It's roots haven't seemed to really grow much at all and most of the leaves are brown. It doesn't seem like a happy plant to me. Its kind of sad when I see it, poor little guy. Anybody have any tips on what I could do to make him more happy?

I can only guess: It is a water issue of some sort. Odds are it started by over-watering and root rot. Without seeing the tree or even a picture it is almost impossible to be correct.

...or without having any kind of other information like where it's kept, how often you water, etc. etc.

The bad news is: When Hinokis get to this point they are usually gone. A picture would help.;
