Earlier this year a planted a sh*tload of Japanese Black Pine seeds from different vendors (for the 6 year contest). Now from 1 vendor only 1 seed out of 150 seeds germinated. I kept this seedling but it doesn't look like a JBP. The needles are much thinner and they are much more "packed together".
Any ideas (maybe are rare species where only 1 excists in the whole wide world)?

I would name him "Ned Needles."

I know real helpful.. how many needles per sheath or can you tell at this stage. I'm going to guess red pine.

Those aren't even true needles yet. Not even Aljos Farjon could tell you what species it is yet. You'll have to wait til at least the first true needles extend to begin guessing. It could just be a JBP from a different area of japan too, slightly different genes?
