About time I invest on a turnable to use as a work station. Thought I'd make one using a bar stool that I found at target for $50

Height adjustable which is perfect to work standing up or sitting down. Rotates nicely. Doesn't lock. Used the kitchen cutting board as an example but will find a larger and round piece of wood for the top...

Only prob with it not locking, is that when you are trying to wire,
the tree keeps rotating.

yeah i know. it actually rotates with the big handle so one foot on it should help stabilize it when needed.

great idea! I have been looking at surplus rolling office chairs at work trying to figure out how to convert one to turntable. Problem is that they are too short.
I have also thought that a photographic tripod should be able to be converted for this purpose, I just have not put any real thought into it. I am fortunate to have plenty of standup height benches on which I put my table top model turntable.
Yours is taller so that helps a lot. Regarding the non-locking problem, could you drill a hole thru both outer and inner shafts and put a pin thru? Might be a problem drilling thru the inner shaft if it is solid.

Great job at thinking "outside the box". I like it.

I have that cutting board! Lol. Looks like a pretty cool stand. Please post up more pics when you have it completely finished with the new top. I think I recall Judy posting something like this but can't find the thread. I may have to keep an eye out for a clearance stool. Or just take one of the bar stools that my wife loves and I hate to transform. I'm sure she will love that.

I have a $7.00 bar stool I bought from Goodwill that I just removed the back rest. That is my first work stool. I purchased a thick & big plastic chopping board to mount on it eventually but for now, it works great as it is. The suede like upholstery actually "holds" & cradles my pots perfectly...down side is it absorbs water.

My favorite is an old pure stainless steel dental/medical stool that I found through Craigslist for $15.00, no conversion needed. This is a bit low and works perfect when I am seated while working. It doubles as an actual stool when I am working on my mechanic tool chest/cart work station.

I also have 2 wooden lazy Susan I use on top of my work area (one at a time ;) ).

I can't find it either. But here is a link to the chair I used, and the finished table. I don't have any trouble with mine trying to spin while I'm working on it, maybe the weight of the tree, or it's not as free spinning as the stool you are using. They are pretty nice as far as height extension, for smaller or larger trees.
