Trident is currently at about 4 ft. The tree is currently taller than me and I'm 6 ft :D

The bigger they come, the harder they are to hide the eventual scar.
We'll cross that bridge when we come to it ;)

I already have scars that I have to deal with

And the sucesive leader change, are smaller year, after year

So the bigger the branch become (in one year time) the faster will close the old scars despite the fact that there will be another smaller in the upper part of the tree.

Cheers.

What are you doing to the scar, in that picture with the thumb tacks?

Looks like an approach graft across the middle to speed up healing of the wound (turns one big wound into two smaller wounds).
