How long before potting, how long indoors?

2 Questions

1. When collecting, in your opinion how long from the time your dig and wrap can you wait before potting?

-If I got collecting usually I'll drive to the spot on a Friday, go to sleep. Use Sat to find the trees I want, then on Sunday I dig the tree up, wrap the root ball in wet t-shirts, then wrap in that postal clear sticky wrap(forget what it's called). Drive several hours home and pot it up. Now would I be alright if I dig on Saturday and Sunday, then drive home and pot?


2. With a healthy tree, in your opinion how long can you safely keep a outdoor tree indoors?

I don't think a day or three would matter all that much, especially if you wet the roots and wrap in something damp at least, then wrapped up in plastic. With the loss of roots, and foliage that typically gets removed when collecting it'll slow the tree down. Why inside?
