This elm is about 4 foot tall.. The base about 1" but I dug below the soil abit to the root flair.. It's about 2 in..
I'm using my toddler's caliper. Hope he doesn't mind I used his tool.

I really like this one. At nursery the taproot went out of the pot. Probably why its alot thicker then the others I already posted from same nursery.

Is this size workable??

Peep this.

If you look at that stump pic alone, that short, the bark reads young chopped down sapling.

The taller the tree gets, the less you are "reading" that young bark, so the tree gets more into scale, and pleasant viewability. (Enter Specific Caveats)

So while that thick, says you can only go so tall, clearly, there is much more to be considered.

There isn't a correct answer. In a BonsaiNut shell or any other!
