I want to start a tree garden next year, and I'm considering various species to plant. I like the foliage on procumbens nana, but I have not been able to find any pictures of one with a thick trunk. I mean 3 inches in diameter at a minimum, and maybe as big as 6 inches or so. If it's not possible, I don't want to bother with it. Can it get thick like that?

This one is 3-4 inches at the base. It will need to be staked at first as I assume you want more vertical than spreading.20200805_115028.jpg

At least 25 years. I hardly water it because it requires a lot of trimming. Even at this size, the trunk is flexible.

I saw pictures of big collected ones from Japan...It is possible, but it takes a loooonnngg tiiimmmeee! Old nursery stock usually has 1.5-2 inch trunks. Start there to save some time.
