How to fuse ficus branch to trunk?

Hi - how would I go about fusing the circled area? It’s currently touching the trunk in the back and wraps around to the front. Do I scratch the barks of each so they’re touching cambium to cambium? Do I tie them together?

in my limited experience, if you combine ficus species of this ilk they will fuse over time without any cutting..I’m not saying use leather or such exactly but I’d be weary of wire scars...in the right conditions it may take in a year of growth

just tie them together tight with saran wrap and let them.be for a couple of years

Just cuz you can doesn't mean you should....

I wholeheartedly agree but I figured it would be interesting if I could combine the two and create some negative space at the base (aka the hole). I’m definitely open to suggestions for styling!
