Hi,
have you ever used hyuga pumice in your soil mix? Could you please explain in general your experience with this medium?
If any, what the difference between hyuga pumice and the "normal pumice"?
Thanks for tour help

I use hyuga over "normal" pumice in bonsai pots but not necessarily in development planters or boxes, though it's entirely for aesthetic reasons. As far as I know, their performance in water and nutrient retention is similar enough to not really matter.

Thanks,
If I got it right hyuga pumice and " normal pumice" is practically the same stuff, hyuga far more expensive.... right?
Thanks so much for your help

They both perform the same but hyuga looks nicer in the pot.

like others say, it looks nicer so I wouldn't spend the extra unless you have a nice tree in a bonsai container. The color is very muted and the particle size is nicely aligned with Akadama, Kanuma, and Kiryu particles. A lot of US pumice can be very white and obnoxious at times. The US particle sizes are variable so I wind up with pumice particles too big or too small compared to the akadama particles even when screening.
