A week or so ago I got a cutting from a very pretty brilliant red crepe myrtle. I did just like all the videos I had watched taught me. Trimmed it down to about 8 inches, exposed a little of the stem near the root area, removed all the leaves but the two very top ones, dipped it in some rooting hormone, planted it in good soil, and placed it in a shady area.

The two leaves looked a little wilty since then, but they were still green, and supple. They hadn't changed at all and my curiosity got the better of me yesterday, and I gently tugged it out of the seed pot just to see if it was sprouting roots. IT DID! There was one little 1/4" root coming out of the bottom. I quickly stuck it back down in the pot and realized my mistake.

Today, the two leaves are still green, but they are about as crispy as a slice of burnt bacon! UGH!!!

Lesson learned I guess. It was a hard one to swallow.

Guess I'll have to go beg for another cutting.
