Today is my birthday and my wife asked what I wanted for my b-day present, I said that I really needed some pots. We visited a club member who has started making bonsai pots and here is what she got me.

What do you guys think?

John

The firs tone and the fourth one are really cool! I like them all, but those are my favorites.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, the pots were made by Barry Wyatt, a member of our club, Azalea City Bonsai Society. Here is one that I forgot to post.

Really nice pots and supporting a club member to boot! Win!

Thanks, guys for all of the kind words. My wife is a big supporter of my hobby and finds it interesting as well. The pots are really nice quality and are thick sided, unlike some of the ones that I have ordered that have came from China. Barry is really doing a good job, lots of holes for the tie down wires. He had a bunch more that I would have loved to get, but I had to limit it to six. He owns a trucking company and when he makes a haul out West he picks up soil supplies and sells them at a reasonable price. He has red lava, black lava, pumice, and fir bark. If any of you are close to the Mobile, AL area and need some supplies, I can furnish you his contact info, his shop is right off of I-10.

I'll tell you what I think. I think you had better start planning for her birthday now because she's one heck of a lady!

Nice pot pickup. Happy Birthday. Plentiful backbudding.

Does he have a website to sell his pots? They look great, and lucky you...!

Happy Birthday! Hey, does your wife have a sister? haha! Just joking, I have a very supporting wife as well. Those are some really nice pots.

Happy Birthday and nice to hear you and the Wife both like Bonsai. I have the same situation and it is great. Curious if those are high-temp fired. It is a must here for the outdoor specimens we have.

belated B'day wishes....like the variance of colors in your pots but think at some place in your development you'll consider some different shapes, ovals squares etc.....I tried to get my misses interested in the trees as she liked lilacs, so got two different varieties. But while she enjoys them when thier blooming that's about as far as it goes.

I subscribe to the motto, happy wife, happy life.....:)

The batch that these came from are cone 8, I don't knowif that is high fired. It rarely gets very cold here, other than this unusually brutal winter.

Yes Cone 8, 9, and ten are high fire. It makes them less porous best I understand so they do not saturate with water a freeze causing damage.
